Hoisin Pork and Noodle Stir Fry

So here is the first recipe for the new website ... please enjoy.


Imagine putting fakeaway on the table quicker than ordering and waiting for the delivery? Well this is definitely one of those recipes. All the flavours of an Asian inspired dish, the crunchiness of the vegetables, the comfort of knowing you are eating noodles all enveloped in a delicious sauce. And freshly served to table in no time at all...


Most of you already know that we have a Celiac family member, which I must say has put a spin on a lot of the foods used to eat and the food we eat now. I am really enjoying the challenge of changing the way we cook and the ingredients we use however there are times we eat non Gluten Free (normally when our son and his girlfriend are out elsewhere).


The sauce a combination of hoisin and sweet chilli is incredible. This along with the addition of fresh lime juice towards to end of the cooking process made my tastebuds dance with every mouthful.


This dish was definitely a winner at our house... how did I know besides everyone making comments? There was none left!

Hoisin Pork and Noodle Stir Fry

(Recipe adapted from Taste.com.au)


Serves: 6

SmartPoints per serve: 10

440g packet thin egg noodles

1/3 cup GF hoisin sauce (I used Ayam Brand)

2 tablespoons GF sweet chilli sauce

2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

500 grams pork mince

1 long fresh red chilli, halved, deseeded, thinly sliced

300g packet shredded coleslaw mix, not dressed

1 red capsicum, thinly sliced

juice of 1 lime

4 green shallots, thinly sliced

1/3 cup unsalted roasted peanuts, coarsely chopped

Fresh Thai basil sprigs, to serve


Prepare noodles following packet directions.


In a jug combine hoisin, sweet chilli and water in a jug.


Heat oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Add pork and stir-fry for 4 minutes or until browned.


Add chilli and stir-fry for 30 seconds or until aromatic.


Add the coleslaw and capsicum. Stir-fry for 2 minutes or until the vegetables start to soften.


Add hoisin mixture, lime juice and noodles. Stir-fry for 3 minutes or until noodles are heated through.


Sprinkle with the shallot, peanut and basil to serve.
